US has nearly 2.2 million  farm 11,630 lesser compared last year and  914 million acreas, 3 million acres lost compared to last year.  The drought could account for the loss in number of farms (or maybe development?) The average farm size of farm is 421.

The number of farms in Kansas and acreage remained the same:    65,550 farms and total acreage of 46 million.  The average size of farm remained at 702 acres. The number of large farms, those with sales of $500,000 a year, increased by 8.6%.

Livestock operations of farms dwindled amidst a widespread drought

What do you think of this for US food security?  For world food security?

Will this trend contribute to further hardship and poverty in US?
